Rice
Rice is one of the world’s most important staple foods, consumed daily by more than half of the global population. Belonging to the Oryza genus, rice is a highly versatile cereal grain valued for its rich carbohydrates, essential nutrients, and easy digestibility. It is a primary source of energy and plays a vital role in traditional cuisines across Asia, Africa, and beyond.
There are several varieties of rice, including Basmati, Jasmine, Long-grain, Medium-grain, and Short-grain, each offering unique texture, aroma, and cooking qualities. Rice is used in a wide range of dishes such as biryani, sushi, risotto, fried rice, porridge, and desserts, making it a truly universal grain.
Apart from human consumption, rice by-products like bran and husk are also used in animal feed, oil extraction, and other industrial applications, adding to its economic significance.
