Sugarcane
Sugarcane is a tall, perennial grassy plant belonging to the Poaceae family. It is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions for its high sucrose content, which is extracted to produce sugar and related products. The plant typically grows 3–6 meters tall with jointed, fibrous stalks that are green, yellow, or purple, depending on the variety.
Sugarcane has long, slender leaves and grows in clumps. The stalks are rich in natural sugars, minerals, and antioxidants, making them suitable for juice extraction, jaggery production, and sugar manufacturing. Beyond sugar production, sugarcane is also used in animal feed, biofuel, and paper industries.
The plant thrives in well-drained, fertile soils and requires a warm climate with adequate rainfall for optimal growth.
