Sapodilla
Sapodilla, also known as Chikoo (or Manilkara zapota), is a tropical evergreen fruit belonging to the Sapotaceae family. The fruit is round to oval-shaped, with rough, brown, sandpaper-like skin. Inside, it has a soft, juicy, and grainy-textured flesh that ranges from light brown to reddish-brown in color. Its flavor is rich, sweet, and malty, often compared to brown sugar or caramel. The fruit contains 2–6 glossy black seeds at the center. Sapodilla is widely enjoyed fresh, and also used in milkshakes, smoothies, desserts, and jams. It is highly nutritious, being rich in dietary fiber, natural sugars, vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, iron, and antioxidants.
