Drumstick
Drumstick, scientifically known as Moringa oleifera, is a highly valued vegetable crop grown widely in tropical and subtropical regions. The long, slender, and cylindrical green pods of the moringa tree are commonly known as drumsticks. They are an essential ingredient in Indian cuisine and are used for their unique flavor and high nutritional value.
The pods are typically 30–50 cm long, smooth, and firm with a slightly ridged surface. Inside, they contain soft, edible pulp and small seeds. Drumsticks are known not only for their culinary uses but also for their medicinal and nutritional benefits, making them popular in both domestic consumption and export markets.
Moringa pods are rich in vitamins (A, C, B-complex), calcium, iron, and dietary fiber, making them a superfood. Apart from the pods, other parts of the moringa tree (leaves, flowers, seeds) are also used in traditional medicine and food preparation.
