Psyllium Seeds
Psyllium seeds are small, oval, odorless seeds obtained from the Plantago ovata plant, primarily grown in India. Known for their high fiber content, these seeds are the raw material for psyllium husk (Isabgol), a widely used natural laxative and digestive aid.
Light brown in color with a smooth texture, psyllium seeds are valued in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, functional foods, and Ayurvedic medicine for their ability to promote bowel regularity, support heart health, and aid in weight management.
When soaked in water, psyllium seeds form a gel-like mucilage, which helps in improving digestion, controlling blood sugar, and lowering cholesterol. They are also used as a thickener in food processing.
