Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
Carom Seeds, also known as Ajwain, are the small, oval-shaped seeds of the Trachyspermum ammi plant. Native to the Indian subcontinent and parts of the Middle East, these seeds are light brown and have a distinctive thyme-like aroma due to the presence of thymol, their active compound.
Carom seeds are renowned for their pungent flavor, which is sharp, slightly bitter, and intensely aromatic. Commonly used in Indian, Pakistani, and Middle Eastern cuisines, ajwain is a culinary spice as well as a potent traditional remedy in Ayurvedic and Unani medicine.
