Fennel Seeds
Fennel seeds are the dried, oval-shaped fruits of the fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare), belonging to the parsley family. Known for their sweet, licorice-like flavor and refreshing aroma, fennel seeds are widely used as both a culinary spice and a digestive aid across various cultures.
Light green to pale yellow in color, these aromatic seeds are a key ingredient in Indian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Chinese cuisines. They are commonly used in spice blends, herbal teas, pickles, baked goods, and even confectionery.
Fennel seeds are also popular in Ayurveda and traditional medicine for their ability to support digestion, reduce bloating, and freshen breath. In India, they are often consumed as a mouth freshener (mukhwas) after meals.
